It doesn’t seem to matter where we are or what we are doing we can’t help but communicate. From our words, to our facial expressions, to our body language we are always communicating and often enough we don’t even realize what we are communicating. As our world becomes ever more connected it would seem that no one can escape the need to communicate, and for most of us the better we communicate the better our lives become.

Wednesday, 23 March, from 7pm at 13 Factories, Guangzhou.

Following the success of the session in December “Asking Powerful Questions” we will dig a little deeper this month by looking into what happens when we communicate. We will explore the process that takes the information we want to share and the results we actually create, looking specifically at what is communication and what are some of the steps we can take to start improving our communication immediately.

This session will be presented by the China NLP Society South China Organizer John Dorris.

Valentine’s Day is a ritual of romance. An opportunity each year for lovers – and lovers-to-be – to appreciate each other and the relationship that they share.

Relationships are the theme for this session of China NLP. Join experienced NLP Trainer, Daniel Smith, as we explore how NLP can enrich and expand our relationships, particularly with respect to:

Rituals: How we can use existing traditions (like Valentine’s Day) to make our relationships better, and how we can create new ones so that we can anchor each other to wonderful feelings.

Framing: What is a relationship for? Is it for security? Is it for fun? Is it for a feeling of success? By becoming more clear about the purpose of a relationship or conversation you can become more congruent and aligned in your daily actions.

Love strategies: What needs to happen for you to feel loved? For some people it might be a special few words, though for someone else, words might mean nothing. But we can learn about our own love strategies and those of our loved ones, so that we can feel more love, more often.

Have you ever felt like you just could not get through to the person you were talking to? Did it feel like no matter what you said nothing was going to change the way they felt? This month we will tackle how to look at the language of other people and use the questions we ask to give more empowering choices in the lives of others and also, ourselves.

As we know from practical experience the way we feel about the world is often the only way we can describe it to the other people in our lives. The other side of the coin though is that we often can only feel about the world the way we describe it in our own words. Our words, in effect, limit our choices about how we want to feel and the actions we want to take to create a positive change. At this month’s NLP we will look at how we can ask questions that indentify the limiting beliefs we hold and in turn create greater personal freedom to change what is holding us back.

John will introduce several “Meta Model” techniques to give you the chance to ask Powerful Questions and break through the limitations you and those around you are experiencing!

Take a moment to imagine what you want most to achieve in your life. Now consider what is stopping you from having that. Ask yourself, “What do I believe this is keeping me from having what I really want?”

The ideas that stop us from achieving or fulfilling the life that we want are called limiting beliefs. They may fill our lives and have many well thought out reasons to keep us from being the person that we want to become. But what if they didn’t have to?

This month, we will take some time to identify what are limiting beliefs and how they have affected us. We will go through fun and easy coaching activities to challenge those beliefs and create personal breakthroughs. These are techniques have been used to change lives and create a greater sense of personal freedom and empowerment by NLP practitioners, coaches, and motivational speakers around the world.

Topics include:

The Frog in the Well,

Self Talk, and

We have many kinds of teams including our work teams, our families, some of us have teams we play with for fun, or work with for charities and individual passions. It seems that being a part of a “team” and collaborating with other people is a part of all of our lives. Being able to understand each other and why we are similar and different can change and improve any team environment. When we can better understand each other we can begin to create strategies and habits that can improve our happiness when we work with others, our team’s effectiveness, and hopefully the quality of our life.

Meta Programs describe the some of the ways our unconscious mind defines our thinking and actions. We will look at 8 easy to understand meta-programs that are commonly encountered and easily observed in our daily lives.

We will talk about what methods we can use to affect our own meta-programs and how we can begin to improve our relationships with the people in our lives. This is an easy way to create an understanding about why some teams work and communicate better with the teams in our lives.

John Dorris, South China NLP’s organizer, has over seven years of experience working with teams across China and as a coach for high level leadership teams. In this session we will do a self-assessment and talk about how to better understand and work with the teams in our lives.

What do you want most in life? Can you get it by yourself or will you have to work with other people to get it done?

Most likely you will have to communicate and interact with someone at some point to get it done. No matter what you do the ability to quickly build and maintain relationships, or rapport as we say in NLP, with a large number of people from different backgrounds will help you to get what you want.

The basic idea behind building rapport is this: When people are like each other they like each other.

On the other hand when people are not like each they don’t like each other. NLP practitioners know there are six elements of building rapport that can be used to break down barriers and create quick yet lasting connections. These six elements are often combined into a simple expression, mirroring and matching.

NLP practitioners have used these techniques to help in improving their relationships, improving their effectiveness at sales and negotiations and even creating romantic relationships with potential lovers!

John Dorris, South China NLP’s organizer will share the techniques he uses in building lasting relationships as a coach and mentor as well as a successful business person. You will have opportunities to begin practicing your rapport building and can leave the evening with new tools to improve your life and your relationships.

To reserve a seat for this event please e-mail John Dorris (john_dorris@altec.com.cn); you can reach him on (020) 3762 1431 for more details too.

This will be in Guangzhou at 13 Factories, 7 Tian He Bei Street, Ti Yu Xi Lu, Tianhe District 体育西路天河北街7号

Remember, that’s next Wednesday, 26 May, 2010 – from 7pm

In this session, China NLP Chairman Dan Smith will guide you through NLP, Accelerated Learning and Cognitive Psychology, to present the important findings from The Genius Project. Learn to develop your abilities, skills, gifts and talents, to expand your personal success and experience of joy and fulfilment.

Awaken Your Genius – Tuesday, 14 July – from 7pm

Venue: Strange Brew, No. 4 Ming Yue Road (东山区明月一巷4号103), Guangzhou

RSVP appreciated to John Dorris on 13603099924 or via john_dorris@altec.com.cn or just RSVP on Facebook here.

Have you ever met someone outstanding? Someone that was not just competent, not just good at what they did, not even “excellent” – but someone who stood out as being exceptional?

Dan Smith did.
In 1994, he noticed that there is a difference between someone who works really hard to get mediocre results and someone who effortlessly achieves excellence. And, surrounded by some of the most brilliant minds, he started to ask, “What is the difference?”

Because it’s not just talent…

Sure our natural gifts and abilities help us. And for some people they help us a lot. But you and I know people who have every natural advantage but who either waste it or just can’t get it right.

And it’s not just hard work…

We are taught that if we work hard enough for long enough, we will get what we want. But it doesn’t always work like that. Some people feel a failure. Which makes perfect sense when you realize that there is a part of you that knows what you are capable of, and that you are not achieving, experiencing and enjoying the success and fulfilment that you want.

It’s not enough to “learn by doing”.

To be your best – you need to concentrate and practice getting better. And it can take time. A long time. And it’s working at getting better too – not just playing around! We need to work smarter – not just work harder. And most of us just don’t do it. Are you showing up at your best?

What if you could be free yourself to be your best?

Dan Smith holds five University degrees (including Psychology and Innovation Management), a fourth degree black belt in karate, and started his first company at the age of 20. Dan is a Certified NLP Trainer, Distinguished Toastmaster and has been living in Shanghai for the past two years.

One of his German participants recently described Dan as “a very experienced trainer who helped me with his knowledge and a huge capacity of understanding to find out where I am, who I am and where I want to go and then provided me with practical and powerful tools to accomplish whatever I wish for.”

Jeff will be discussing how to invest in yourself by discovering and understanding your core values. By discovering in your core values, you stay ahead of life’s uncertainties because you know what you want out of life, you know what motivates and pushes you forward, you know just why you’re alive!

Jeff Tan | Wednesday, 24 June, 7-9pm | @Paddy Field, Guangzhou

Core values are what’s important to you and drives your emotions, thoughts and actions every second of every day. It’s a set of personal rules, principles and fundamental truths that give us the fuel and motivation to lead a meaningful, pleasurable and pur poseful. Values are generally discovered, not designed.

You can’t touch, smell, taste, see or hear your core values. But you can feel them inside you leading and guiding you all the time.

Just as important as discovering our core values, understanding what it means is critical as we attach our own personal and unique meaning to a value. For example, many people have happiness as a value yet to one person, happiness is when they accomplish a task, yet to another person, happiness is when they are one with nature. Same value – radically different meaning.
